Hi Reader, When you think of great brands, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s Apple, where the packaging feels as carefully designed as the product. What all of these have in common is user experience (UX). They’ve thought beyond the product itself, and into how people feel when they interact with it. And podcasting needs the same approach. Let’s call it listener experience (LX). What Is Listener Experience?LX is everything that happens between the moment someone presses “play” and the moment they finish your episode. It’s not just your audio quality (though that matters). It’s:
Good LX is invisible. Your listeners don’t notice it, because they’re too busy enjoying the experience. Bad LX? That’s when they hit “skip” or unsubscribe. Why LX MattersA great listener experience is what turns a casual listener into a regular. It’s what makes them recommend your podcast when a friend asks, “Hey, what should I listen to next?” Think about it: there are millions of podcasts out there. A good idea might get someone to try your show once. But LX is what brings them back. It’s your equivalent of UX in tech, customer service in retail, or hospitality in restaurants. Without it, your podcast is just another podcast. How to Improve Your LXYou don’t need a giant production budget - just intention. Start with:
Great UX makes products sticky. Great LX makes podcasts unmissable. Your job isn’t just to create content. It’s to create an experience your listeners want to return to, again and again. Because in the end, people don’t just remember what you said - they remember how your show made them feel. Until the next time, happy podcasting.

Maybe you do want sponsorships. Maybe you want to grow an audience. Maybe you want your show to become...
Hi Reader, I nearly didn’t publish an episode this week. Everything was done. Recorded, edited, ready to go. But right at the end, that familiar thought crept in: “Do I actually know enough about this to be talking about it?” It’s a strange part of podcasting. You can do all the work, and still hesitate at the last step. And I think a lot of us deal with that, whether we call it imposter syndrome or not. For me, it usually shows up when I’m covering something that feels a bit more “advice-y”....
Apple recently added support for video podcasts using HLS. Which naturally leads to the question: Should you be using it? The honest answer is - it depends.
